ICS International Baccalaureate
International Community School (ICS) is an International School in London. We teach the International Baccalaureate (IB). The IB guides our learning through units of inquiry. These relate academic subjects to the real world. The units have a structure that guides our students to look at topics in a variety of ways. The IB provides IB schools a learner profile. This guides students on how to become well balanced learners. It also teaches students on how to be a good citizen.
As an IB World School we teach all three academic IB programmes:

HOW WE TEACH AT PRIMARY
At the primary school, we teach maths using a stand alone maths programme. Students get 1 hr of maths per day. Students also get 1 hr of English per day. We have developed our own literacy programme. As part of the programme younger students learn phonics. Primary students are tested according to the international schools assessment (ISA). The ISA tests are approved by the IB and test english, maths and science. Our results are well above the world averages.
ACADEMIC RESULTS AT SECONDARY
Learning at secondary is linked more closely with academic subjects. Students learn the fundamentals of each subject. They also start to learn higher order thinking skills. This prepares them for the IB Diploma. Our IB Diploma results at the secondary school are outstanding.
All our students went to good universities around the world. This included our top performer going to Oxford University. Last year our students took the new IB MYP exams. These exams are taken on computer and you can link to the internet for research. They represent the future of exam taking.
